KNIFE CRIME

Why do people carry knifes? I don't get it. Why can't people just fight with their fists instead of sticking a blade into someone? Is it musical influences? Or is the media input we consume nowhere days so graphic that savage violence has become the norm? Personally, I just think its wrong carrying knifes, the moment you take one outside the house in my opinion your ready to use it on someone. Thats why I believe people who carry a knife outside the house should simply be locked away, that'll get the message sunk into the youths of today that carry them so freely.

PICKING YOUR NOSE

Is it bad? We all do it wether we admit it or not. Personally, it dosn't hurt to have a good dig if theres a mega boogey up there an its pissing you off. Even chimps do it, I know there primitive but there literally us anyway just a few million years behind. So whats bad about nose picking? Well I guess it looks gross, If u eat your booger thats just messed up. But, I think the only reason people see it as bad is cause we all do it an therefore say its bad so people don't think others do it.

ABORTION

So, it dosn't get more controversial than this. Abortion, is it right or wrong? murder? unethical? lets discuss. In my opinion it obviously depends on the situation. For example, if the child is conceived through rape then its understandable that the woman dosn't want it. However, there was a case in Ireland where the church caused much uproar about a woman aborting her child even though the father was a rapist! I also agree with abortion if the child is to be born with a sevre disability and will lack quality of life then thats also fair enough. However i don't agree with abortion for use of contraception, that is murder. Also abortion because the sex of the child isn't what you want. Having a baby aint like candy shopping, you cant pick n choose what you want. At the end of the day we cant settle something like this in a simple blog, abortion is always going to turn heads.

RACISM

Just finished watching the film Crash. Dont know if you've seen it but basically its about people predujudism. Overall, I felt the message at the end was that everyone is a little bit predjudiced. I it got me thinking, are we? I mean im sure everyone has engaged or been affected by racism. Maybe its simply in human nature to be different to people that we are not the same as, or maybe some people are just racist to the core.

FOOTBALL HOOLIGANS

I was watching the news the other day and I saw what people claimed to be the worst case of football hooliganism for twenty years. Coventry city fans vs Leicster fans. It got me thinking, how pointless is football hooliganism? I mean, groups of fully grown men fighting over a football and 22 overpaid divers. Just didn't get it really. They claim there 'hardmen', but theres nothing gayer to me than men fighting over other men. But what do I know im no football hooligan, maybe theres more to it than mindless violence.

BINGE DRINKING

I was watching this Jermy Kyle special the other day about young people binge drinking whilst on holiday, and I thought, why won't the older generation just let the younger generation live these days. I mean alcoholism is badin anyones books. However, binge drinking isn't anywhere near the same. The way young people were people represented was not good. It just makes me think, everyone was young once, but the older generation seem to think all youth are horrilbe violent binge drinkers and thats far from the truth. People should be free to have fun whilst there out without old nobs moaning at them. Fair enough if they actually do something wrong they deserved to get punished. But if there just going out and drinking an having fun they shouldnt be labelled as 'binge drinkers'. Also, everyone grows up eventually, so i cant see the vast majority of young people who drink lots now doing the same when there fourty. So back off old people!

G20 Summit

Theres been some controversy lately over this and the police force are being represented in a negative way. Personally, I believe the police force should be able to use the force being shown. Fair enough, protesters are gettin hit round the head with batons, even one man died. However, all protesters should know the risks they are putting themselves into before they do these dangerous protests. You can't run riot and then start crying when you get a little back at you. The police at the end of the day are here to protect and serve us, if they cant even use minor force anymore whats the point in even having a police force? To be nice to criminals and say "please don't break that window, oooooo the tax payers wont like that." As if. That wouldn't work in a 'perfect' world never mind ours.

So, as you can tell I am supporting the police force on this one and believe they are being wrongly represented in the media. The companoes should know better really than to turn the people of britain on to the people that protect them.

BAD COMEDIANS

Personally, I wasn't to keen on this subject. Simply because I dont see comedians as 'bad', sure, many comedians use shocking material. But thats only becuase tehy feel as though it will sell. My favorate comedian for example is Jimmy carr. He makes offensive jokes about rape, special needs children and anti gay jokes. But that dosnt mean he condones those things. In my opinion, comedians have alwaya been a voice for the voiceless. People who too afraid to say something.

Overall, Ibelieve many people enjoy jokes which contain sexist and racial slurs. Not because we are bigots. But simply because deep down we all like to laugh at those things.

I agree with Laura Coles argument on the positives of smoking, even though I am very anti smoking. I didnt realise that smoking gives something back tax wise. I am now aware that smoking gives millions back to our government. This however, still dosn't make me agree with smoking.

OUTLAWS and BANDITS

Personally the concept of outlaws and bandits has never phased me. Simply because the ideology of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor in my opinion isn't really a bad thing. Deprived members of soceity need an anti hero to look up to. Even nowhere days, we all like to see someone stand up to 'the man' or the 'fat cats'.

However, Bandits I find somewhat something to frown upon. An example of Billie the Kid is perfect, a violent bandit, but loved across america. In contrast to Outlaws such as Robin hood, Billie the kid is for me not a hero, just a violent gun slinger.

Tattoos

As a person who has recently had his first tattoo, I dont agree with certain aspects of what certainpeople say about tattoos. For example, I dont believe the whole, "you only got a tattoo to look hard or feel like a 'badman'". My main reason for why i got my tattoo is simply becuse i wanted a beautiful piece of artwork on myself. I can understand however, why certain people see it as a way to add to the 'badboy' persona. You can sometimes see tattoos as a way to put your middle finger up to soceity. Like yhhhh I have this on my body an there nothing you can do about it!

Overall, tattoos are here to stay in my opinion, wether its for the reason of being seen as 'bad' or 'cool' or simply for wanting a piece of artwork on yor body, im a firm believer of the phrase, "its my body i can do what i want with it!" An hey, why not if it looks nice.

lying

I think this is something we all do. How bad it is, is simply what we lie about in my opinion. For example, if my friend buys a new t-shirt or gets a tattoo and well....it looks crap, Im not going to crush his or her feelings. Little white lies as there called I believe to be innocent. However, certain liars are just sly an devious with it. I personally can tell when someone is lying most the time. Maybe cause Im a goof liar myself, however like everything lying must have its limits.

Adultry

I can understand why people cheat to be honest. I mean, some relationships can loose there spark . If your bored your gonna look elsewhere, many factors can contribute to being bored and wanting to look elsewhere. Things such as lack of sex, the thrill of being with someone else for just one night or things just becoming routine in the current relationship your in.

But does this mean you should just be forward with the person your with and end it? I dont think so, I mean if theres a chance it could eventually work out with him or her why crush that person? Especially if you still feel something for them, love or not.

stealing

So, is shop lifting in the same leauge as stealing a car? Well, I think no. And my reason is pretty simple. The fact is when you shop lift, more often than not your stealing of a giant corporation such as ASDA OR TESCO's. These companies put little companies out of buisness with there low prices that no one can compete with, so when you put it like that who is the real bad guy in all this? The person stealing a pair of smartprice socks? I think not. Also if you were to steal someones car the concept would be different, as that peron who owns the car has arguably worked damn hard to buy that. In all good conciousness I couldn't steal someones car, as in the back of my mind I would think,"man.....that dude who I stole that off probably has a morgage and kids to feed." A store like Asda on the other hand can just claim insurance and is not majorly phased by someones stealing some socks.

I suppose stealing is all the same in theory, but emotionally it is a different matter as different scenarios carry out different emotional responses for different people.

INTERNET SHOPPING!

I'm, not in the best of moods today. I dont know if any of you have ever ordered clothing off the internet. But last thursday I ordered to items of clothing off ebtm.com, and I ordered it through first class mail (which costs an extra five pounds however it means it should have came the next working day) and low and behold, nearly a week later it still hasn't come! So, today i thought it was time to take action. I phoned the company and asked were my stuff was. Its still wasn't dispatched! I wasn't rude to the person on the other end of the phone as im well aware it wasn't his fault. He told me the extra five pound I used for the first class post will be put back into my account. However, this is what made me wonder, would they have put the money back into my account if i hadn't phoned up and complained? And if not isn't that classed as stealing? I mean, I've used my hard earned money for a service and I didn't get it. So surely they shouldn't have waited for me to complain, they should have put the money back into my account as soon as they realised the service I paid for wasn't going to meet the deadline which it should adhere to.

Smoking.

So, im trying to relax and successfully do my assignment and I have chosen the topic of smoking, hence the title of this entry. However, as a none smoker im finding it hard to relate to why people would really want to smoke. Smoking has never really appealled to me. Its werid, because everyone in my house smokes apart from myself. Growing up I never really gave into peer pressure like my other friends, I always strongly believed that weak minded people took up smoking, beacuase from a young age they felt desperate to impress there peers or become "popular," as some would say. Personally I dont think theres anything popular about clogging up your lungs with black tar, but hey, free will and all that.

Infact in relation to smoking, I was out saturday night (subculture up Birmingham if anyones knows or cares.) And I went with a few friends that smoke, and as we all know smokers now have to go outside to light up. Well, so im not on my lonesome in the club I obviously go out with my friends while they get there latest dose of nicotine. I cant help but pity my friends everytime they try and give me a fag, they know I don't smoke but still they persist on making me have one. I wonder why this is? so I ask. I quote my friend, "Beacause daz, you know deep down it looks cool." Well.....does it really? I suppose you would have to be part of the smoking crowd to really know the answer to that. However, certain aspects were coverd in the lecture, and it makes sense why people depict smoking as "cool". But for me, and for now, I still think its a gross habit.

FEILD TRIP SUGGESTION.

I suggest a feild trip to the cinemas, to watch a film that has caused controversy in the past. An example could be "the exorsist" as at the time of its release, many christian group would have possibly found the material offensive. Therefore it "being bad".
